Technical Advisory Notice
As you may know, GPS tracking devices rely on mobile networks to communicate with servers using data connections. Mobile network providers supply GPS service providers with SIM cards to enable this connectivity. Occasionally, these companies upgrade their networks, and such upgrades can cause compatibility issues with older devices. Similar to how we upgrade our phones (at personal expense) when needed, GPS tracking subscribers must also upgrade their GPS devices to maintain reliable service.
We understand that these upgrades can be unexpected, so we have introduced affordable upgrade options to cover the cost of new SIM cards and devices. You can use the links below to pay for the applicable upgrade and then book your appointment via our website.
-
Wireless device customers: You may collect your new SIM cards from our offices at the time of your booking.
-
Wired device customers: Please book an appointment on our website for the upgrade.
We ask customers to book their upgrades after sending the payment. We cannot accommodate unscheduled walk-ins for this process as it will lead to lengthy wait times and delays in appointment bookings. We wish to provide a quick and efficient process that will reduce any further inconvenience.

Frequently asked Questions
Question 1: I have a wired system that I purchased over three years ago. Do I need to upgrade?
Answer: Yes, you will need to upgrade your device. This upgrade will migrate you to the Car Safe 2.0 platform, giving you access to all the latest features and improved functionality.
Question 2: Why do I have to pay for these upgrades when I’ve already paid my renewal subscription?
Answer: We understand that this cost may be unexpected and unwelcome. However, as technology evolves, it is essential to upgrade your equipment to maintain compatibility with advancing systems. While we don’t require upgrades for every new feature, there are times when network changes necessitate an upgrade to ensure continued service. This is similar to mobile phone users who, despite being fully paid subscribers, must occasionally pay to upgrade their handsets to stay compatible with new network requirements.
Question 3: How can I tell if my device has been affected by this network change?
Answer: If you received an email directing you to this advisory, it is likely that your device has been affected. To confirm, log into the Car Safe portal and check the last time your vehicle transmitted data to the servers. If no data has been transmitted despite the vehicle being in use, your data services have been impacted. Please note that our Command Centre can still track your vehicle, even if live data transmission has been disrupted.
Question 4: How do I upgrade my SIM card?
Answer: To upgrade your SIM card, click the link provided below to begin the process. You will be guided to make a payment and schedule an appointment at your convenience. The upgrade procedure typically takes between 15 and 45 minutes during your scheduled appointment.
Question 5: What is the cost of a SIM card upgrade?
Answer: The cost for a SIM card upgrade is $112.50.
Question 6: Is my vehicle still protected?
Answer: Yes, your vehicle is still protected through alternative tracking methods. However, you will not be able to access the live tracking feature until the upgrade is completed.
